Transfield Corporation a huge, faceless development company in cooperation with the Victorian Government intend to erect up to one hundred and fifty, fifteen story wind turbines across our spectacular granite hills.
As a group we support the development of renewable energy technologies. We are convinced however that the generation of usable power from the wind is not and will not be feasible until a method of storing the electricity created becomes available.
We, like Senator McGauran, recent Federal Minister for Agriculture believe the imposition on us of these huge machines is a fraud designed by our State Government to con the Victorian people into believing that the Brumby Government is concerned with its waste of energy and the resulting production of greenhouse gases.
Further, we believe that we Tooboracians will only be amongst the first to pay for our government’s cynicism. As well as the destruction of our landscape and wildlife we will suffer damage to our property values, our health and the quiet, convivial character of our neighborhood.
The increase in catastrophic bush fires which can result from malfuntioning turbines will threaten our natural environment and our property if not our very lives.
All Australians and ultimately all the world’s people will have to pay the price too. Australians will pay through the waste of our taxes and the destruction of our landscape and way of life. The world’s people will bear the cost as our creative energies are diverted from the search for a real alternative to fossil fuels.
We propose to fight and defeat those who would industrialise our rural neighborhood with all the resources at our command. Our fight to save our countryside will be long and hard. But with
determination and hard work we will succeed.
